Biography
Kerry Bursey is a Canadian tenor and plucked string instrumentalist from Montréal. One of the most active early music vocalist and plucker in the country, he has been lauded for his “voice made of dreamy troubadouresque sweetness” (Olyrix) and “clear and ringing tenor” (Early Music America). He is a sought-after lutenist and guitarist, notably invested in self-accompaniment, from renaissance lute song to folk music.

He performs as a soloist at the Southbank Centre, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Ruhrtriennale, Manchester International Festival, Bregenzerfestpiele and Holland Festival. He tours internationally with his ensemble Ménestrel, co-founded with soprano Janelle Lucyk, a project described as “alternative early music”, exploring written as well as oral traditions.
Kerry is also active as a session musician and creative collaborator from pop to video games. He composed and performed film soundtracks (444, Mistral Spatial) and notably sang and played for several entries of the Assassin’s Creed series.
