Stanislas Germain-Thérien
Biography
Stanislas Germain is a lute player from Montreal, Canada. He completed a master’s degree in Early Music performance at Université de Montréal and a Licentiate at McGill University under the tutorship of Sylvain Bergeron. He also completed a Superior degree in Early Music performance at Escola Superior de Música de Calalunya under the tutorship of Xavier Díaz Latorre. In parallel, he studied self-accompanied singing with Arianna Savall at the Conservatorio de Bellaterra in Spain.
He investigated the oral tradition of lute music of the Renaissance which led to his first cd recording: The Dark Side of the Lute. He is presently pursuing a doctorate at McGill University and has been granted by the Quebec Research Fund to complete his research one of the first lute music manuscript, the Capirola Lutebook.
