Alice Boissinot Guastavino
Biography
Alice Boissinot Guastavino is a French-Canadian multi-instrumentalist, soprano, choral conductor, cellist, and gambist who is praised by L’Opéra magazine for their “beautiful, fresh, and delicate voice” and “phrasing and ornamentation.” A graduate in voice and cello from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, they are also the associate conductor at Chœur des enfants de Montréal. Alice earned a Bachelor of Voice from McGill University in 2024, studying with Aline Kutan, and is currently completing a Master’s degree (2024–2026) at McGill supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC).
They have performed as a soloist across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, in repertoire ranging from early music to contemporary works with ensembles such as Festival Montréal Baroque, ArtChoral, Les temps perdus, Les Idées heureuses, Ensemble Contessa, and Les Goûts Réunis.
Highlights of the 2025–2026 season include Die ferne Geliebte with pianist Liza Miller, appearances with Les Idées heureuses, the role of Morgana in Handel’s Alcina (McGill), and projects with La Nef, les Goûts Réunis and Ensemble Scholastica.
Alice’s past operatic roles span centuries and styles: Third Soprano in Dean Burry’s Il giudizio di Pigmalione (world premiere, McGill); Iris in Handel’s Semele (McGill); Franca* in Adam Guettel’s The Light in the Piazza (McGill); Esprit 2 in Massenet’s Cendrillon (McGill) and Esprit 1 (CMM); Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Ensemble Bonaventure); Colette in Rousseau’s Le devin du village (Festival Montréal Baroque); and Lisa* in Rossini’s La sonnambula (McGill).
Awards include the FRQSC scholarship (2024), Dixie Ross-Neil Scholarship (2023), Mariana Paunova Scholarship (2022), and First Prize in the Chœur de la Montagne Competition (2019).
