Bijuriya

Strongly inspired by her South Asian culture, Bijuriya is active as a drag artist, musician and cabaret MC in the Montreal cultural scene, notably working with Festival Phénomena, Festival Accès Asie, Suoni Per Il Popolo and Geordie Theatre. Her interdisciplinary drag, music and theatre solo show “Bijuriya“, which premiered at Montreal Arts Interculturels in 2022, was reprised at the PuSh Festival (Vancouver), Queer Arts Festival (Vancouver), the Music Gallery (Toronto), Fluid Fest (Calgary), Open Ears Festival (Kitchener) and 5 times in the Montreal Maisons de la culture de Montréal, via the CAM en Tournée program in 2023-24. Additional dates are planned for Buddies in Bad Times (Toronto). Bijuriya‘s musical collaborations span many genres, from early music and Baroque with Les Goûts Réunis, to South Asian music and a band project that pays tribute to alternative queens. Her EP “Bijuriya Chamke” and song “Problematic Fantasy, feat. BiG SiSSY) are available on all streaming platforms. Behind the drag, Gabriel Dharmoo is a composer, vocalist, interdisciplinary artist and researcher.
